Are you wondering at which stage we are?

The project which started in September 2007, proceeds. The foundations have been made, the hospital is now rising: we are at the roof. So much still need to be done, but we think that by October 2008 the whole structure will be finished. Through donations and making up medical supplies out of use, we found a lot of necessary equipments. So, the operating room has been completed (general surgery), as well as the dental clinic and the laboratory analysis with electronic microscope and centrifuge. A conventional X-Ray room and ultrasound are ready to be shipped. The area of hospitalization is composed by six beds for patients. Two containers have just been shipped and we are already preparing the third one.

Meanwhile a small clinic is operating in  Ampasilava, furnished with both paediatric and adults medicines, endowed with various dental equipments , material for small surgery, an electronic microscope, an electrocardiograph and a defibrillator.

Until summer 2007, 3500/4000 patients were visited in six months with an average of 650 patients/month. And when a physician and three collaborators joined Dr. Pasotto for a short period of time, his activity grew up, in such a way that in December 2007 the visited patients were 1300! (45/day).

Common pathologies are mainly respiratory flogosys, gastroentheritis, intestinal parassitosys, traumatic pathologies, gynaecological pathologies (flogosys and proliferative masses), othitys, conjunctivitises, dermatitises and cutaneous abscesses, caries and dental abscesses. Rare are the forms of malaria and AIDS, also endemic in the region of northern Madagascar.

There is a need of financial and human resources!!!!!

Currently, mainly involved in the project are personal of the Emergency Radiology and of the Medicine of urgency and of the Surgery of urgency of the Policlinico Sant'Orsola-Malpighi in Bologna (Italy), personal of the Policlinico in Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy). Hospital Administrations are not providing special permission for temporary leaves: the employees have to use their own days off and holydays. It's hard to create a team numerous enough to cover the whole period of the year and to provide continuity to the activities at the hospital of Andavadoaka. Requests from Italy and also from the foreign countries are arriving. Let's hope for the good!

In order to raising funding we are continuously organizing various initiatives. You can take a look to "Events" section of the website for the next appointments.

Forecast: we need 60.000 euro for the construction of the hospital! We have spent 16.000 euro for the fast delivery of the two containers!! We count on everyone believing in Us ... because:
